Gaia & Rey is made exclusively from Chardonnay. The grapes come partly from a 3.6 hectare vineyard, which is named after Angelo and Lucia’s eldest daughter, Gaia, and her grandmother, Clotilde Rey. The field is located by the village of Treiso in approx. 460 meters high and was planted in 1979. In addition, grapes for this wine are also sourced from a vineyard in Serralunga. It is a fine Piedmontese white wine in the mould of a white Burgundy, matured for six to eight months in 225l French oak barrels before bottling. Expect layers of apple, citrus and tropical fruit, fine minerality and well-integrated toasty oak. In good years, this wine can age well in bottle for a decade or more. Some oxygen before drinking it is recommended ... perhaps even decanting it? It's a great pairing for seafood.

Located in Piedmont in northwestern Italy, the Gaja winery is widely considered to be one of the greatest estates in the world, producing coveted and collectible labels. From its classic Barbaresco and Barolo and its single-vineyard bottlings, to its ground-breaking Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon, Gaja is both a pioneer and guardian of tradition, a legacy that continues to reshape the standard for excellence in the world of winemaking today.
